Welcome to Prompted!—a podcast dedicated to the magic of writing prompts.
Writing prompts are an invaluable tool for sparking creativity, improving your craft, and pushing the boundaries of storytelling. Every week, we explore a new prompt, sharing poetry, flash fiction, and reflections that emerge from the process. Listeners are invited to join in by submitting their own responses, making Prompted! a collaborative creative space.
Meet the Creator & Host

Hi, I’m Eric Montgomery—the creator, producer, and host of Prompted! I’m a poet, writer, and creative explorer who believes in the power of storytelling and self-expression. Writing prompts have been a huge part of my creative practice, helping me discover new ideas and refine my voice. That love for prompts led me to create this podcast, where I could share my process and invite others to explore theirs.
Why I Write
Writing has always been my way of making sense of the world—of exploring emotions, perspectives, and the complexities of life. Whether through poetry or fiction, I find joy in the challenge of weaving words into something meaningful.
The Power of Prompts
One of the best tools I’ve found for keeping my creativity sharp is writing prompts. Every morning, I challenge myself to respond to at least two prompts from some of my favorite writing communities on Bluesky—#vss365 (Very Short Stories) and Half Baked Prompts. Another favorite writing prompt is from the Brainstoryum podcast, hosted by Anna Tizard. The unpredictability of prompts pushes me to think in new ways, explore fresh ideas, and refine my craft.
No matter where you are in your writing journey, regular use of writing prompts can be an invaluable exercise that helps you tap into your imagination and improve your craft. They offer a creative spark, a challenge, and sometimes, a completely unexpected story waiting to be told.
Why I Created Prompted!
That love of prompts is what led me to create Prompted!—a podcast dedicated to the magic of spontaneous creativity. In each episode, I share my own poetry and flash fiction inspired by prompts from the past week, and I invite listeners to join in by tackling a new prompt that I’ll share at the end of each episode.
